Nickelodeon Family Suites by Holida
14500 Continental Gtwy, Orlando, Kissimmee,
We were so excited to go to the Nick Hotel ("A"on advertising, Nick), but unfortunately were severely disappointed upon arrival ("D" on service). We were told guests can't check-in until 4pm - and check out is at 11am. The operator said we couldn't even use the pools and/or services before 4pm the day we arrived. In fact, this was not true. We were able to get pool passes, but the whole experience with the front desk was difficult to say the least (stood in line to check in and again to get the keys, and there was only 2 people working the front desk). The room was okay but dated. Beware of the pics online showing the kids suite. There is no stove, no utensils, and a room size frig, so don't food shop before arrival. Our biggest disappointment came with the shuttle services. There are 3-4 shuttles leaving in the morning and 3-4 shuttles returning at night to each resort (Disney, MGM, Universal, etc). Sounds fine to you? Think again. You have to get a ticket for the shuttles the day before to even get on and if you aren't lucky enough to get the first shuttle, the parks are so crowded, you'll kick yourself all day long about arriving late. And the return shuttles don't start until around 6pm, and they're so spread apart, it's hard to make it back, unless you give in to a car service or taxi ($20-$30 per ride). The return buses from Disney are even worse...you're required to navigate your way through a sea of people and sit in the middle of an enormous bus lot until your bus finally picks you up. There are no posted signs letting you know where to go, so keep the piece of paper that has the parking space #, because you'll miss your bus trying to figure that one out. The shuttle drivers are severely underpaid, and understaffed, so if you get good service, drop to your knees and thank them. I won't be back to the Nick, but will probably go back to Universal (it was a blast, and they have hotels right on the property so you don't have to deal with bus schedules). We did enjoy the Nick show at night, but sign up early, because you won't get in otherwise.
