Scheduled a visit for $69.95 on Monday, Tech showed up on Tuesday on time. The tech did a reasonable job diagnosing the problem, but thats where the good news ends. The part is for sale on ebay at $60, the local parts store charges $120 or so. They want $257 for the part. Labor - $285.00 to install the part which is like a 20-30 min job. You just sweat off the old one on put on the new one. Not tough. Its inside the condenser in a easy to reach place. Not worth $300 worth of work. Fan blade would take 2 mins to replace if I asked them to replace it. Absurd. 8-10 lbs of freon for my 4 ton unit. They want $25 a lb. ($250) Other companies offered to discount the freon for me up to $15 a lb. ($150). A they wouldn't even credit me the 69.95 I paid yesterday for the "Diagnostic" visit like most companies do. And to boot, the technician who came out started making offers to undercut the company he was working for and do the work for $200 after hours. He would sell the Freon for $10 a lb, and would bring an accumulator he had at home for $100. What a bargain, unless he damages my unit in the process. Then there is no warranty and no proof, and no TRUST! Stay clear and find a reputable company to do the work for you, it will save you in the longrun!
